What are compounded semaglutide tablets?

Compounding means creating a medication tailored to an individual — for instance, an oral tablet version of a medication, or a customized dose your doctor prescribes for you specifically. Compounded medications are prepared by state-licensed compounding pharmacies operating under state board of pharmacy oversight and required to meet USP compounding standards.

Compounded semaglutide tablets are not approved by the FDA, and the FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality. They are not brand-equivalent. Prefer an FDA-approved product? We also offer Wegovy pills and the Wegovy injection — your doctor can help you choose at your free assessment.

The science

How semaglutide tablets work

When you eat, your gut releases GLP-1 — a hormone that triggers insulin, slows digestion, and tells your brain you're full. In some people that signal runs weak. Semaglutide is a synthetic GLP-1 receptor agonist: it activates the same receptors as your natural hormone, restoring the signal.

1

Curbs hunger

By activating GLP-1 receptors in the gut and brain, semaglutide quiets the constant food chatter — patients commonly report the random snack cravings simply stop showing up.

2

Slows digestion

Food leaves your stomach more gradually, so smaller portions feel as satisfying as large ones used to, and fullness lasts noticeably longer after meals.

3

Steadies blood sugar

Semaglutide triggers insulin release when glucose rises, smoothing the spikes and crashes that drive between-meal cravings and energy dips.

Compounded tablet or FDA-approved brand?

Both paths run through the same free doctor assessment. The compounded tablet offers dosing customized to you; the brand products carry FDA approval and manufacturer consistency. Your doctor lays out the trade-offs honestly — the right answer depends on your history, goals, and budget.

Worried about side effects?

Managed titration, responsive care

Some patients experience side effects on semaglutide — nausea is the most common, along with constipation, diarrhea, and stomach discomfort, typically strongest in the early weeks and after dose increases, and usually subsiding as your body adjusts. That's why dosing starts low and climbs gradually: your doctor balances weight loss with comfort, and adjusts the plan by message with no appointment required. If needed, your doctor can also prescribe an anti-nausea medication such as generic ondansetron. Serious semaglutide-class risks — pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and the thyroid C-cell boxed warning that applies across semaglutide products — are exactly what your consultation screens for; see the full details in our side effects guide and the disclosures below.

Patient experiences

What members say

My doctor is helpful and quick to respond, and shipping has been on time every month. One early hiccup with a missing tablet was fixed within days by the care team.

CS
Chelsea S.WegovyPills.org patient

Communication has been great with the doctors and staff, and I've always received my medication in a timely manner.

LO
Laura O.WegovyPills.org patient

I'm on maintenance, not starting out, and I was surprised how welcome my goals were — other sites only wanted to prescribe for a starting BMI, not help me keep the weight off.

LK
Linda K.WegovyPills.org patient

From the doctors to the staff everyone is responsive — I'm almost to my goal weight, down 25 lbs, and I've referred a friend who's having a great experience too.

Questions we hear every day

Semaglutide tablets — frequently asked questions

Compounding means a state-licensed pharmacy prepares a medication tailored to an individual patient — for example, an oral tablet form or a customized dose a doctor prescribes for you specifically. Compounded semaglutide tablets contain the same active GLP-1 ingredient class as brand products, but they are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality. They are prepared under state board of pharmacy oversight and USP compounding standards, and they are not brand-equivalent.
Exactly as your prescribing doctor directs — typically once daily on an empty stomach in the morning, with a small amount of water, waiting before eating. Your doctor sets your starting dose and adjusts it over time based on your response; never change the dose on your own.
Semaglutide works best alongside modest changes: because it reduces appetite and slows digestion, most patients naturally eat smaller portions. Your care team provides guidance, and clinical results with semaglutide were achieved together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased activity — the medication amplifies good habits rather than replacing them.
Nausea is the most common, especially in early weeks and after dose increases, along with possible constipation, diarrhea, and stomach discomfort — usually easing as your body adjusts under gradual titration. Your doctor can adjust your plan by message, no appointment required, and can prescribe an anti-nausea medication such as ondansetron if needed. Serious semaglutide-class risks (pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, thyroid C-cell warnings) are screened at your consultation.
Appetite typically returns toward baseline over the following weeks, and studies of semaglutide discontinuation show some weight regain is common without continued lifestyle support. If you're considering stopping, message your doctor first — tapering strategy, maintenance dosing, or switching formats are all options worth a conversation.
Yes — brand-name options exist and we offer them: Wegovy pills (oral semaglutide, from $149/month) and the Wegovy 2.4 mg weekly injection (from $149/month) are FDA-approved products. Your doctor can help you weigh the compounded tablet against these at your free assessment.

About treatment results

Individual results vary and are not guaranteed. Published semaglutide efficacy data come from trials of FDA-approved semaglutide products (for example, STEP 1: 14.9% average weight loss over 68 weeks with weekly 2.4 mg; Wilding et al., NEJM 2021), conducted alongside diet and activity changes. Compounded semaglutide tablets have not been the subject of those trials, and their results may differ.

Boxed warning and serious risks (semaglutide class)

Semaglutide carries a boxed warning: in rodent studies it caused thyroid C-cell tumors, and it is not known whether it causes medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in humans. Do not use semaglutide if you or a family member has a history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Other serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney injury, hypoglycemia with certain diabetes medications, severe allergic reactions, and mood changes — monitor for new or worsening depression or suicidal thoughts, contact your provider promptly if they occur, and in the U.S. call or text 988 in a mental-health emergency. Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and stomach discomfort. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Reporting side effects

Suspected adverse reactions can be reported to the FDA MedWatch program at fda.gov/medwatch or 1-800-FDA-1088.
