Dulaglutide (Trulicity)
A once-weekly GLP-1 agonist approved for type 2 diabetes, known for its easy auto-injector but modest weight effects.
Dulaglutide, sold as Trulicity, fuses a GLP-1 molecule to an antibody fragment so it circulates for a full week. It earned a large diabetes following for its hidden-needle auto-injector — arguably the easiest pen in the class — and for cardiovascular benefits shown in the REWIND trial.
For weight specifically, dulaglutide is a side-effect rather than the mission: trials show roughly 2–5 kg of loss, far below semaglutide or tirzepatide, and it carries no weight-management approval. It appears in weight conversations mostly as the medication a patient is already taking for diabetes when they ask their doctor about switching to something with stronger weight evidence.
